A different kind of love

4.22.2015

Before meeting and marrying my husband this past December, I struggled for a long time with understanding what love was. I figured that in order to be loved, you had to meet a certain physical standard, a certain personality standard, and a certain spiritual standard. I never once understaood what love really meant. But after going through many tough situations in my life, I can finally understand what it is and what it is not.

Love is God.
He created each and everyone of us in his image (Genesis 1:27). He created us out of nothing and made us something. He put thought into us, and with that breath of life, he showed us love.

Love is Sacrifice.
In John, chapter 3, verse 16, it tells us the God gave his one and only son for us. I think that's the biggest gesture of love if you ask me. I am not a mother but I am pretty sure that if I ask any woman out there if they would give up a child, let alone their only child, for another individual they will tell me no. So the fact that God gave up his ONLY son, tells me that he loves me way more than I deserve.

Love is Jesus.
I know this should probably go down as sacrifice but Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross for us, for our sins. He gave his life for us, so that we could be saved. He endured pain for us, even with our sins.

I use to think that in order for me to be loved, I had to meet the approval of those around me , but now I know, that love is not a wordly thing. Love is a heavenly thing because it came from heaven and into us. If you are looking for love, look above. The best kind of love that you will ever receive, is the love that God can you, it's the love that caused Jesus to give up his own life for ours.

Don't look for approval from your peers, you were approved of and loved before you came to exist in this world. That's the kind of love that means everything.

Kind Regards,
Cynthia Enid Cano
